Why I’m looking beyond Acuity
Acuity hasn’t moved much since Squarespace bought it, in my opinion is has actually reverted in its functionality. Many of the features my clients ask for like waitlists, simple booking flow, fun gift cards, and so on, still feel like an unreasonable pipe dream. Breely is built by Gavin Zuchlinski, the original founder of Acuity, and it shows; the interface feels familiar but the under-the-hood options go further but somehow is simpler at the same time.

Stand-out features in everyday use
Automated waitlists: fill open spots in order, with automated, staggered email notices sent out until someone claims the time.
Client log-ins & stored details: when a customer signs in, their packages, coupons, and card-on-file come through automatically. You can even force them to sign in before booking.
Subscriptions that mix appointment types without breaking my brain.
Custom reports that enable my client to see where their money is coming from.
Digital gift certificates with scheduled delivery and fun designs.
Create forms that upload files and collect signatures. I can't even describe how revolutionary this is alone.
In my tests, the pages load almost instantly, a welcome change if you had the pleasure of watching Acuity spin and glitch.

As of May 2025, Breely keeps it simple: free for one user with all the features except collecting money!
Then $7 per user, per month for a whole lot more. Unlimited clients, 3k emails/texts per month, and collect payments (with Square or Stripe.) No feature gates, no “Pro” upsell.

What Reddit says

Pros

Modern extras my clients want, waitlists, subscriptions, forms, add-ons, collect signatures... all right there.
Fast interface and responsive support, including weekly office hours.
Cons
Young product: small user community and limited third-party tutorials today. (Capterra)
Frequent updates mean the UI can shift; worth noting if your team hates change.
Mobile experience is solid in the browser, but there’s no dedicated app.
My take
If you’re feeling boxed in by Acuity's never ending toxic relationship of disappointment, Breely already covers the essentials and adds quality-of-life features most schedulers still lack.
The trade-off is a bit more configuration up front and fewer community how-tos, for now.
